Efficiency in a self-discharging cement carrier is about more than discharge capacity. Energy consumption, system complexity, maintenance requirements and long-term operating costs all influence vessel performance.

The E3-Cargo System by Lion Bulk Handling is designed to make cement discharge more efficient by combining an inclined fluidization floor, gravity flow and pneumatic conveying.

How does the E3-Cargo System work?

Inside the cargo holds, cement is fluidized and moves by gravity towards the E3 pressure tanks.

Once filled, these tanks are pressurized and pneumatically convey the cement from the vessel to the receiving facility on shore.

By using gravity as an integral part of the discharge process, the system reduces the need for additional mechanical conveying equipment and energy-intensive vacuum systems.

Why use gravity for cement discharge?

Using gravity helps simplify the material flow and reduce the amount of energy required to move cement through the vessel.

Depending on the application and system configuration, the E3-Cargo System can provide:

  • Up to 40% lower energy consumption per discharged ton
  • Less mechanical equipment
  • Fewer rotating and wear components
  • Lower maintenance requirements
  • Fully enclosed cement handling
  • Controlled pneumatic conveying to shore

Reducing the energy required for each discharged ton can also contribute to lower fuel consumption, operating costs and environmental impact.

Efficient self-discharging cement carriers

The E3-Cargo System demonstrates how system design can improve cement discharge efficiency without compromising reliable material flow.

By combining fluidization, gravity and pneumatic conveying, the system creates a streamlined route from the cargo hold to the receiving installation.

Less mechanical complexity. Lower energy demand. Efficient cement discharge.
